I’m finally back to working on Inevitable. You guys have no idea how much I’ve missed this story. The chapter i just finished came out smoothly and beautifully. I hit 30,000 words, and since as of right now, this was is only supposed to be a novella, I don’t think it will go much past 40,000 words. I’m praying I’ll hit that word length by the end of the month. Wish me luck. In the meantime, here is a snippet for said chapter. #jenniferreynolds #inevitable #paranormal #romance #wip

Sorry about last week, but with the holiday, I just didn’t want to sign up and not be able to visit everyone’s posts.
Today I’ll be continuing to share an excerpt from my upcoming novella, Saying Goodbye. I’ve sent this novel to my betas this week. One has already gotten back to me and she loves it. I finally have a synopsis, but I’m not happy with it. I’ll include it here. I would greatly appreciate any help/suggestions. I’m still thinking the release date for this will be January 9th, 2016. Since this one is with my betas and the release date is so soon, I’ll probably stick with this novel until I get tired of it or until Outcast gets a little closer to its final draft. J
The following snippet comes right after the last snippet I posted. Erica is still at Michael’s funeral and is view his body for the first time.
---
Her parents were right though, she needed to see him. She had to be strong for his family. They had wanted her to stand with them throughout the entire visitation. She loved that they saw her as part of the family, but she couldn’t bring herself to stand that close to him for that long.
At the foot of his casket, she paused; she could see most of his face and the solid, dark gray suit in which someone had dressed him. The funeral home had done an amazing job. In passing, someone who didn’t know him might think he was sleeping, as her father promised. She knew better; she knew his color was off. She felt the lack of life in him. She knew his aura, his soul, the life he radiated, and she didn’t feel it.
“Breathe, you can do this,” her father said, and, for the second time, pulled on her arm.
Erica let her father lead her forward until she was standing beside the casket and looking down at the man she loved even though he no longer looked like Michael. His features were right, his scar was there, but something was missing. She stared down at him waiting for him to open his eyes, waiting for him to get back into his body and sit up, waiting for him to be her Michael again.
“Honey, it’s time to move on. You’ve seen enough,” her mother said. Her mother’s voice barely broke through Erica’s prayer, making her wonder how long she had been standing there.
She turned slowly to look at her mother, then nodded.
Erica left him without putting anything in the casket. There was nothing of hers or theirs for her to give. He took everything she had when he left.
Caroline, Michael’s mother, was the first person Erica met after leaving Michael’s side. She hugged Erica tight and for so long that her father and Michael’s father, John, had to separate them. Erica had stopped crying before they entered the room, but seeing the woman’s lost look brought soundless tears to her eyes. She didn’t stop them from flowing, but she refused to utter a noise. If she opened her mouth, she would scream, and she was afraid that if she started screaming she would never stop.
John wiped tears from her face but didn’t hug her. Michael’s brother, Carl, did
---
That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
---
Michael was Erica’s world, her soul mate, her future husband and father of her unborn kids. From the day they met as children, she had planned her entire life around him, so when he died too young, she was faced with a blank future that she did not intend to fill.
On the one-year anniversary of his death, she discovers that he hasn’t left her completely. Learning that her longing for him and his desire for her allows him to move in the human world for short periods of time gives her something to live for. As the years pass, his ability grows and changes, giving him hope that there might be a way for him to one-day come back to Earth permanently.
But have too many years gone by with the two of them spending too much time apart to rekindle a teenage romance and turn it into something more? And if they are able to reignite that spark, can they live with the sacrifices they must make in order to bring him back?

#8Sunday and #SnippetSunday Excerpt from #Resistant
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my Snippet Sunday & Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday blog hop post. I hope everyone his having a great November and for those who celebrate, are you ready for Thanksgiving?
Today, I’ll be sharing from my new release, Resistant, a sci-fi/horror romance. Resistant is a romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. Saying Goodbye, my paranormal love story and upcoming release, is back from editing, but I’m going to wait until December to go back to sharing from that novella.
In this excerpt, Sahara, the main character, is alone and unwilling to leave her house due to the zombies roaming her neighborhood. I’ve moved a head a tiny bit to end the chapter.
Life went along that way for another month. I felt myself slowly going crazy. You can only kill so many people—yes, they were zombies, but many of them looked relatively normal—before your brain starts to snap. I tried to keep myself busy when I wasn’t killing. I forced myself into a workout routine. I read every book I could get my hands on that had to do with zombies from the places I scavenged, but I was never able to bring myself to go beyond the yards of the homes surrounding me. I didn’t search for survivors. I stayed right where I was and let my sanity slip away.
Thank you for stopping by. If you want to read more excerpts from other authors or if you want to join in the fun, stop by both blogs to check things out.

I managed to make it two weeks in a row. Yay me.
Today I’ll be continuing to sharing an excerpt from my upcoming novella, Saying Goodbye. I’m still working on my last read-through of the novel. I should finish it this week. Once I finish this read-through, I’ll start working on a synopsis and contacting my betas. I’m thinking the release date for this will be January 9th, 2016. Since this one is back from editing and the release date is so soon, I’ll probably stick with this novel until I get tired of it or until Outcast gets a little closer to its final draft. :)
The following snippet comes right after the last snippet I posted. Just a little warning. Things are going to get a little sad for a while.
---
Erica wished she could say that she didn’t remember the visitation and the funeral. She wanted to be one of those people who blocked all of those thoughts, those images from their mind, but she wasn’t. She remembered it all.
To her shock, the visitation was open casket. In her mind, from the moment her dad told her his family would have a viewing, she saw him bloody, bruised, busted up, too grotesque for the world to see.
When she entered the funeral parlor and saw the open lid, she froze. She couldn’t see him that way. She didn’t want to remember him that way. She wanted the vision of her perfect angel-faced Michael with the scar above his left eye, day old stubble on his chin, and unruly brown hair to be the only image of him she would ever have in her head.
Her father took her by the arm and said, “It’s all right. They fixed him up nicely.”
That wasn’t at all comforting to her. No part of her wanted to see him, but she let her father lead her down the aisle. That day, that situation was not how she pictured the first time she walked down an aisle, arm and arm, with her father to look like. The man at the front of the room was supposed to be standing, looking dashing in his tuxedo, not lying down in a silk-lined casket wearing a gray suit. The flowers around him were supposed to be pink roses and baby’s breath, not white roses and gaudy wreaths.
Her mother followed behind them, rubbing Erica’s back. James, her older brother, his girlfriend, and her little sister, Emmy, were behind her mother. James awkwardly held his girlfriend’s hand, while trying to hold Emmy in an upright position. Her little sister, aside from herself, took the news the hardest. Emmy had worshipped Michael, and he had adored her.
The closer they got to his coffin and his family, the slower Erica walked. She couldn’t force herself to go faster. She couldn’t make herself see him laid out in the casket. Even glimpsing him that way would make everything a little more real than she needed it to be. A part of her hoped that all of it was some elaborate prank his frat brothers decided to play, but she knew they weren’t that cruel.
Her father pulled on her arm slightly to speed her up. He and her mother had assured her that she needed to view the body and pay her respects to the family. They said that it would be therapeutic for her to see him that way, to get that last bit of closure that seeing him would give her; visitations, funerals, in their mind helped people deal with death…helped them mourn.
Erica didn’t believe anything would help her get over losing Michael. He was her world, her life, her past, and her future. She was nothing without him. She understood, more than they realized that he was gone. Seeing his body couldn’t possibly cement the fact any more than it already was.
---
That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.

#SnippetSunday #8Sunday #Excerpt from #Resistant only $2.99
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my Snippet Sunday & Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday blog hop post. I hope everyone his having a great November. Who else feels way behind in their Christmas shopping and it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet?
Today, I’ll be sharing from my new release, Resistant, a sci-fi/horror romance. Resistant is romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. Saying Goodbye, my paranormal love story and upcoming release, is back from editing, but I’m going to wait until December to go back to sharing from that novella.
In this excerpt, Sahara, the main character, is alone and unwilling to leave her house due to the zombies roaming her neighborhood. At this moment, she is raiding her neighbor's home for supplies.
---
I shouldered my gun and searched the house. I found no one. The bodies on the front walk were too bloated and too nasty to touch, though I seriously wanted to throw them over the fence and out of my line of sight. Not to mention their smell was drawing the attention of other zombies. They couldn’t get to me, but the sound of them moaning and growling so close was creepy. I loaded the pack on my back with all the dry food I could fit in it. Other things that wouldn’t damage in a fall, like toilet paper, I threw over the fence. I didn’t clean the house in that trip, but I did make a mental note of what the Jacksons had.
---
Thank you for stopping by. If you want to read more excerpts from other authors or if you want to join in the fun, stop by both blogs to check things out.
---
On a different note, here is an example of how widely different peoples' tastes can run. In two days I received a 5 Star Review of Resistant and a 1 Star review (my first ever). This is why I tell people if the cover and synopsis appeals to you, read it no matter what anyone else says about it. That isn't a guarantee you'll love it or hate it as much as they do, but at least you can form your own opinion. I'm sorry this person didn't enjoy the novel, but I'm glad so many others have. :)

Will she stop resisting the man she loves and open her heart, knowing that he may not live through the next second let alone the next year? Join Sahara and her people in a fight against creatures set out to devour them and the unknown threat controlling them to find out.
