Weekly Writing Update
Weekly Writing Update:
I won't lie. I don't have much to update. I've mostly just been running Grammarly through Shore Haven or it through Grammarly, however that works. I've written a little in the way of reworking a few sentences, but not much.
My neuropsychologist wants me to start writing about my life as a caregiver, so I have done a bit of that. Right now, it's just for me, but I might think about starting a blog somewhere with it. I don't know much about creative non-fiction or blogging, so if any of you have any pointers, by all means, share them.
I'm back on some meds, but I'm on some very low dosages, so I don't know how well they'll help. Today has been a highly frustrating day, and they haven't helped much. Sigh.
I
've contacted the lovely Lynn Lam about doing the cover for Shore Haven. At some point this week, I'll be emailing her the book's information. Wish her lots of inspiration.

Mages have lived by a prophecy that states that once there are two mage houses left, one must kill the other to maintain a magical balance. But the prophecy is disrupted when a new mage is revealed and begins killing everyone in his path.

EXCERPT:
Tobias scoffed, but he was smirking. “Well, there is a first time for everything, isn’t there?”
“Git.”
“Yes, I am, and I own it.” He stood up and stretched his legs. His coat was discarded, and he wore only a pair of black trousers and a white shirt. Simon noticed his nails were polished matte black. It was a nice touch … as was that gorgeous body.
“Once we find the prophecy and see if there is a way to circumvent it, we need to figure out where Thornhill is hiding and eradicate the bastard from existence,” he said with more vehemence than Simon had ever heard from him. “We have spent hundreds of years fulfilling this prophecy, upholding the names of our houses and the standards at which mages have always been held andhe — he — ” Tobias trailed off in a huff. “Damn it,” he muttered. “Control, control.”
Simon stood up and walked behind Tobias. He placed a hand on his bony shoulder and said, “Hey, it’s okay. We’re going to kill him; we’ll make him pay for his crimes. I promise.”
Tobias’ skin was warm beneath his shirt and Simon wanted to melt right into him, to hold him from behind and —
Stop it, he scolded himself. For once my brain makes more sense than my body!
Tobias stood straighter and turned, dislodging Simon’s hand from his shoulder and breaking the moment. “Forgive me. I am not often like this.”
“There’s nothing to forgive. This is a lot of pressure, mate,” Simon said. “We never really discussed it but … if there is no way to change the prophecy…”
“Then one of us must kill the other. Yes, I am familiar with it,” Tobias snapped.
“You don’t want to kill me?” Simon asked, confused. He always assumed that Tobias would relish the chance to kill him and make it hurt after how he’d treated him when they were children.
“No, despite my sour disposition, I am not a particular fan of murder,” he said. “And you? Were you relishing the idea of finally getting rid of the pesky little brat you used to knock over on the playground?”
Simon felt sick. Had he really hurt Tobias so much that those beautiful black eyes were filling with moisture? “No… I —I’m sorry,” he said, head hanging. “I was a stupid kid. I never wanted to hurt you, not really. And I don’t want to kill you.”
“Then let’s do what mages do best, shall we? Create a solution to a magical problem.”
Tobias acted as though he hadn’t just been on the verge of some sort of breakdown as he gave Simon a translator and they began looking for the prophecy again.
It wasn’t until late that night as Simon was starting to fall asleep that he heard Tobias exclaim, “I’ve got it!”
Simon nearly fell out of his chair from the shock. He had never heard the reserved man shout so loudly. “W-what?”
“The prophecy, you imbecile! I found it! And it’s already translated for us.”
“Well? What’s it say?” Simon asked, going to stand at his side. He could feel the heat from his skin, smell an earthy shampoo that was just so … Tobias. It was enough to send his libido into overdrive as if he was a teenager again.
“Here.” Tobias angled the book so that Simon could see.
“Here we stand with mages uncountable, in the age where magic is new. They will create and make the future, spells all shall use. But one by one the houses must fall; as magic expands, they must recede. Until one day only one house name shall remain of the mighty mages, lasting for eternity in history. On the day that two remain, one must make the deciding blow and concede their name. Only one name can remain. The balance of magic must be maintained, and so it has been said, so shall it be.”

Shore Haven Excerpt
All Samantha wanted to do was celebrate her sister’s college graduation. Life in a world that was picking itself up after a post-apocalyptic event that consisted of a series of earthquakes and tsunamis that devastated the planet, broke apart continents, and left most of Earth covered in water, wasn’t easy and neither was travel. A trip to the North American content’s capital, Liberty Island, was a life-altering experience for most on a normal day, but unfortunately, Samantha’s picked the worse time show her sister the world.
In the center of Liberty Island, a compound was arising. Rumors about the compound abounded despite the owners’ assurance that Shore Haven was nothing more than a self-sustaining safe haven from any future catastrophes. What the owners of Shore Haven and the rest of the world weren’t prepared for was a plague the likes of which they’d only seen in old world movies.
Samantha and a handful of others survive the initial outbreak thanks to Shore Haven, but escaping the dead isn’t the only threat they’ll have to face when radio transmissions reveal that the rest of the world is determined to keep the dead from leaving the continent.

Weekly Author Update
Weekly Author Update:
I haven't done much editing or writing this past week. What I have done has been with Shore Haven, though. I spoke with my editor. She's had a few personal issues, as I already knew, but she says she has been working on Shore Haven and is loving it. I'm not in a hurry with this novel. I'll need all the time I can get to prepare for its release.
I did manage to get all prizes in the mail this past Saturday. Yay!!!
I've been dealing with a bad reaction to a new medicine. I wasn't all the pill a week, and the doctor pulled me off it yesterday and sent me for blood work. Unfortunately, while I've been dealing with that, my FIL has had a bad reaction to an antibiotic he was taking. My poor husband has had a lot on his plate these last few days, but he's hanging in there. I hope to be back to normal soon. I'm sure I need the meds to cope with all that is going on, but I the side effects are just making things worse.
I have a number of appointments this week, but I hope to get some work done. Wish me luck.
Have a great week everyone.

Weekly Writing Update:
The cover artist I spoke with about Shore Haven's cover never got back to me after our first email. I sent her a message to let her know that I've decided to go another way. I am annoyed, but not mad. As someone who has a shit ton of stuff going on, I chose to assume that she was busy and go on with my day. I am talking to another woman. Or well, I will when she gets back from vacation. LOL.
I messaged my editor to get an update on Shore Haven. I know her mother has had health issue, and with my issues with my in-laws, I haven't set a timeline for Shore Haven. While I'm waiting for her reply, I've begun running Grammarly through the novel again.
I'm listening to Awake, via Adobe PDF. I think I may finally have the first three chapters of the novel nearly perfect. I have a beta reader reading the chapters as I go, and she's loving it.
The alien piece and Fated are still on the back burner for now. I do hope to pick them back up soon.

Jude Gallagher thought she was crazy.
It all started when the boy next door made her hear music—inside her head. All the time.
It was torture.

Things only turn stranger when she and her lab partner Frankie Melmack begin a project to prove the existence of the Vatra u Krvi—a race of people tied to the mythical Phoenix. Add in a neglectful mother and a magic ring, and the insanity that defines Jude’s life is pretty well complete.
Heat surges across the Nevada desert, and the best and worst parts of Jude Gallagher’s life collide as myth meets reality. In the middle of the chaos, she begins to hear more than just music. And she has to wonder…

Excerpt from AWAKE - Coming 2019
I haven't done much writing this week, but I have been doing some editing on AWAKE, so I thought I would give you guys a snippet from the novel. Enjoy. :) :)
Excerpt from Shore Haven - Coming Soon
Over a hundred years ago, a series of earthquakes and tsunamis devastated the world. They broke apart continents and left most of the planet covered in water. Those few who survived were determined to rebuild the world the best they could. Bridges went up, large amounts of money went into figuring out what was causing low birthrates, and C.D.C facilities stayed busy working on cures for illnesses that came along with the contaminated waters.
Not everyone grew comfortable in the new world, though. In the center of Liberty Island, the United States’ new capital, a compound was arising.
Illnesses were something the world understood, but people dying then returning to devour those left behind was not.
Only a handful of people on Liberty survived the initial outbreak thanks to Shore Haven, but escaping the dead isn’t the only threat they’ll have to face when radio transmissions reveal that the rest of the world is determined to keep the dead from spreading.

Weekly Writing Update
Weekly Writing Update:
I managed to write a whole 500 words last week, pushing the alien piece to right at 40,000.
We only had one doctor's appointment this week, and it was at 930 this morning, so maybe I'll get to do some writing this week.
I am planning a party that should run from June 22nd to June 28th. Be sure to check out the pinned post on my The Supernaturals Series Facebook page each day for that day's giveaway. I'll be giving away t-shirts, notebooks, cups, etc.
Things blew up again this past week at home, which prevented me from getting too much done. I actually left and told my husband I wouldn't return unless a few things happened. Since then things have been a bit calm. I think my leaving actually scared them. If I didn't return, they were looking at going into a nursing home. I know that sounds bad, but I also have to think about my safety, and something happened that felt on the verge of jeopardizing that safety. As I've said things are okay now and should continue to be so if my husband continues to enforce the ground rules he set down.
On a happy note, my husband and I got nearly six whole hours to ourselves over the weekend, which was amazing. His birthday was Sunday, so we went out Saturday night had dinner.
I hope everyone has a calm, happy week. Wish me lots of writing. :) :)
