Wow, I can't believe I'm posting two weeks in a row. Considering how crazy things have been the last few days, I'm happy to just be on my laptop.
FIL is still hanging on. He went a few days there where he didn't eat anything but a protein shake, one day he couldn't suck on a straw. I had to give him water via a medicine dropper. He isn't much better than that now, but he actually had a few bites of oatmeal, a cookie, and a few chips yesterday. Each day is different. Widely different. He'll come off the IV antibiotics on the 20th, and we'll know then how much of this is the antibiotics and how much of it is a drastic decline with his dementia.
On to my writing. I think I've found an editor if mine does decide that she needs to step away to care for her mother. Yay!!!
I'm steadily working on all of my projects, but haven't been able to give any specific one a great deal of attention. I did write another chapter of Fated, book 2 in my Valeterra series, and I sent Marked, book 1, to my new narrator. That book should be out on audio March of 2019.
Everything else I've just tinkered with when time allows.
Some of you have asked about a paperback copy of Captive. I'm working on getting it uploaded. I'm having a few issues getting the formatting right. I'll think it is okay, but KDP will give me messages about gutter errors and stuff. I think I have it all worked out, so maybe sometime real soon you can order copies of that novel in paperback.

Shore Haven Excerpt -- Coming Winter 2019
Life in a world rebuilding after a post-apocalyptic event consisting of a series of earthquakes and tsunamis that devastated the planet, broke apart continents, and left most of Earth covered in water, wasn’t easy and left little in which to rejoice. All Samantha wanted to do was celebrate her sister’s college graduation. A trip to Liberty Island sounded like the perfect way to do so, but she was wrong.
Jason believed in his uncle’s vision for Shore Haven, a self-containing compound in the center of the island. My life has been busy these last few weeks. My FIL's hallucinations are getting worse. At first, he recognized that he was hallucinating, but as of the last few days, most of the time he doesn't, which has made him ill. He's sleeping all the time, not eating or drinking much. His nurse says that he isn't actively dying, but that's coming.
Oh, and to top things off, our hot water heater went our, so I've been boiling water on the stove for baths, dishes, and the like. I feel like I'm living in one of my post-apocalyptic novels.
I have been writing. Not tons, obviously, but a bit. I talked to my editor about Shore Haven. Her mother is having some heart problems, and she said if she doesn't get to make any progress in the next week or so, she'll send me what's she done, so that I can find another editor. I hate that for her. I love her and want to keep her, but I understand the need for a lighter load. I don't want to have to find another editor, but I'm going to start reaching them next week, so if you know someone, send me their name, website, etc.
I've also started what is my last read-through of AWAKE before sending it to editing. I just can't seem to get the first chapter right, but this time around I didn't alter all that much, so maybe at the end, I won't feel the need to go over the novel again.
The nonfiction piece related to my caregiving experiences is coming along nicely. I think I'll be finished with the first draft by the end of the year. I've also nearly finished the outline of a second piece.
I'm still tinkering with a few other fictions projects, all post-apocalyptic, but none are far enough along to share too much about here at the moment.
Well, I guess that's it. I hope everyone had a great Halloween. I didn't dress up, but I did play with the filters on my phone, so that it looked like I did. Midnight and I watched Hocus Pocus and went to bed. LOL!!!

Finally, a completely original take on the end-of-the-world scenario, and not one tiresome zombie in sight! I loved Bix! I cheered for her, cried with her, and cussed with her. This was a well-crafted story with complex, like-able characters (well, some of them weren't so like-able). The storyline kept me guessing, and I found it hard to put down. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a different sort of apocalypse story. You won't be disappointed!

This book had me from the first sentence. "I was 12 years old when the world ended." Might be the best opening line of a book ever! From then on we are taken on a wild ride into the new world with Bixby, Luke and co. I loved every word, felt like I lived through each moment with these characters. An absolute stand out in this genre, you will not be disappointed.
