Today’s excerpt comes from chapter three of my upcoming suspense/thriller, HIM.
Mom didn’t say another word to me through the rest of the very short trip from the mainland to the island.
The closer we got to the island, the more nervous I got. I kept picking up my suitcases, making sure I had locked them tightly so that none of my underwear flew out if Shane accidently dropped one of them. I kept playing with my hair, knowing that no matter what I did, I would have boat hair.
The ferry we take from Yellow Head to Little Paw is a foot ferry and it can go fast, so it only took us about fifteen minutes to get to the island although, with my fear of him and anticipation of seeing Shane, the ride felt as if it took hours.
Mom rolled her eyes at me when I craned my neck to try to see the front deck of the boat and the dock we were approaching. My sudden shift from fear to excitement annoyed her. “I thought you didn’t want to come,” she said snarkily.
This novel is now on sale. The novel has already received some amazing reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. Most of the reviews forewarn people that this novel is graphic and is not for those who love beautiful Hollywood endings. So far, all have given it four and five stars, despite the content because of how moving and powerful the story is. I hope you enjoyed this snippet.
