Today I’ll be sharing excerpts from my upcoming novella, Saying Goodbye. Right now, I’m looking at an October 15, 2015 release date for this novel. I don’t have a synopsis for the novel yet (because I’m lazy), but in a nutshell this novel is a paranormal love story/love triangle about a ghost who is trying to find a way to stay on earth to be with the love of his life. In doing so, he introduces her to a man that she might start having feelings for.
The following snippet starts chapter 2. They are finally at the party.
Erica and Michael arrived at the fraternity house located a block from the campus just as a few of his parents’ employees were leaving the building. A couple of the guys in the house catcalled at Michael as they approached, and one even flipped him off, then slammed the door in their faces.
“Damn it. Come on. If we don’t get in there quick, there won’t be any food left. Mom said she was making pizzas for this party,” Michael said, grabbing Erica’s arm and pulling her toward the front door.
His parents owned a pizza and sub shop that made their own bread. Their sandwiches are ten times better than anything the leading sub shops could ever make. They also did salads and BBQ. Their pizzas were the best, and no matter how many they brought, those boys would have every single one of them devoured in seconds.
Once inside the house, Erica ran past Michael, down the hall to the kitchen, elbowed the first male to block her out of her way, and grabbed an unopened pizza box off the bottom of the stack. Ignoring the calls and curses from the guys behind her, she fled the room with Michael right behind her, who was carrying a container of salad and a box of breads sticks. They collapsed on a sofa, laughing at the foul words floating in at them from the other room. No one followed them though; they wouldn’t dare with Erica with him. They also feared that if they made Michael mad, his parents wouldn’t bring them food anymore.
“God, you would’ve thought I stole one of only two pizza boxes with the way those guys are carrying on,” Erica said before tearing open a packet of Thousand Island dressing and poring it over the salad. “They act as if they’ve never had pizza before. Animals.”
“They’re growing boys,” Michael said, mimicking his mother’s tone of voice.
“They need to stop growing.”
Kevin entered the room just as they were opening their pizza box and reached for a slice. Michael slapped his hand and told him to fetch his own. Kevin flipped him off but headed to the kitchen.
“Bring us something to drink while you’re in there,” Michael ordered.
“Something carbonated,” Erica called after him, knowing that he would bring them beer anyway.
“You can have one drink, you know,” Michael said, shoving a large slice covered in pepperoni and bacon into his mouth.
“One, then it’s sodas the rest of the night.”
“Does that go for me as well?” he asked, looking pitiful.
“No, but please don’t drink too much. You listen to their stupid-ass ideas too much when you’re drunk.”
“I don’t.”
“I love you, but you do,” she said, patting his hand and grabbing another slice.

That is it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
I think I’ve announced this already, but Resistant is scheduled to go on sale on the 26th of this month. I’m currently looking for beta readers, proofreaders, and well, mostly reviewers since a number of my betas have read through the novel already, so there shouldn’t been too many typos at this point. If anyone here is interested, email me at:jennifer.powell.reynolds@gmail.com
The first two chapters are live on Goodreads and you can add the novel to your Goodreads “to-read” list if you want. I’m so happy that five of my betas have already left me five star reviews. :) :)
