#WIP IT WEDNESDAY Excerpt from the 3rd book in my Supernaturals series.

July 6, 2016

Welcome to my post on WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY blog hop. Don’t forget to hop over to our home page to find links for more WIP posts or for instructions on how to join the hop. http://wipitupwednesday.blogspot.co.uk/

I’m apologizing now if I don’t get to read anyone else’s work. My father-in-law went into the hospital last week, so needless-to-say, I’ve been a bit busy and distracted.

This week I’m sharing from my current WIP, the third book in my Supernaturals series. As of right now, this novel doesn’t have a title, release date, or cover. This scene  starts the novel.

---

“You have got to be kidding me,” I said, looking from my laptop to my boss, who is also my best friend. I work for and am friends with one of the most popular supernatural romance authors to date, Destiny LeShae, also known as Dakota Landry by those of us who grew up with her. She grinned connivingly at me as she walked around to my side of my desk with a cup of coffee in hand, but said nothing. “You want me to do what?” I asked. The incredulity in my voice was more than evident.

“You read the email,” she said, smiling sadistically at me before taking a sip of her grande, nonfat, sugar-free, pumpkin spice latte.

“Yeah, I read it. I just didn’t think you were being serious. Why me? Your publisher is asking you to do it.” I pointed to the spot on the screen that showed that this was a forwarded email originally meant for Dakota.

“And I’m asking you to do it for me. You’re the one who offered to be my personal assistant after all.” The annoying smirk on her face was aggravating me more than her request. She knew this was an opportunity I’d dreamed of, but would’ve never seriously thought would happen.

“This is a bit more than research, basic editing, and social media maintenance. I mean…” I let my words trail off as I turned back to the screen to read the email again.

“Well, technically it’s research,” Dakota said, pulling my focus back onto her.

That was true, but more research than I ever thought I’d do for her. She did the more hands-on stuff. I just searched Google for her.

“But don’t you want to be the one to go?” I asked. “You’re the author after all. I mean, I don’t mind going with you, but one would think you would prefer getting the information firsthand.”

My insides were shaking at the thought of what Dakota was asking me to do in her place. Every wet dream I’ve ever had either while lying in bed or in a daydream, told me how bad I wanted to do this, but…but…I couldn’t do it. I wasn’t the type of girl who did things like that.

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
