#WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY #Excerpt from Resistant, a sci/fi/horror romance, coming fall 2015
Welcome back to WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY. If you are new to this hop or are just deciding that joining this hop would be a great idea, visit the WIP IT IP WEDNESDAY blog home page at: http://wipitupwednesday.blogspot.co.uk/ to read the sign-up instructions. Also on that page, you will find links to other wonderful authors and their WIP.
This is my twenty-fifth week on this blog hop. Resistant is still with my editor, we’ve finalized the novel, and No Sweat Graphics is still working on the cover. We had decided on one, but then my husband had a few suggestions, so I’m waiting for that draft. I’m nearly finished with my last read-through of my novella, Saying Goodbye, which I’ll probably start sharing here next month. I have the cover for it already, but not a synopsis. I’m also currently writing two paranormal romances. One is a full-length novel and the other is a novella. I’ll try to start sharing from those in a few months. They aren’t scheduled for release until next year.
I’m continuing this week with an excerpt from my current romance WIP, Resistant.
Resistant’s Synopsis:
Before they came, Sahara was an overweight high school teacher living alone in a small Alabama town. She saw her life as nothing more than endless days of teaching children Shakespeare and nights reading paranormal romances. She was happy with her life, as quiet and mundane as it was.
There were warning signs. The world knew something was coming, they just didn’t know when or how devastating it would be. Sahara reluctantly heeded this signs, believed what they foretold, but she wasn’t ready for how quickly it happened or how drastically it changed her life.
With the release of a single scream that broke the night, Sahara woke to find herself in the middle of the apocalypse. She stared out of her bedroom window and watched as her neighbors devoured one another. For a long time afterwards she hid, she rationed, she tried to maintain her sanity, never venturing out into the world of the walking dead, then one day a group of survivors barraged into her life and changed it once again. They dragged her into their new world and taught her to fight, to lead, and one of them may even teach her to love.
Will Sahara help those who are left find safety and stability in a world full of nightmares? Will Sahara chance opening her heart to someone, knowing that one of them may not live through the next second let alone the next year? Join Sahara and her people in this fight against creatures set out to devour them and the unknown threat that is controlling them to find out.
Here is what we have for a cover as of right now. I'll share the new as soon as I have and only if I I change covers. :)
Everything is still moving in a timely manner, which means that I’m still looking for Resistant to go on sale at the end of September.
Anyway, on to the excerpt. This scene is a continuation from my last post. I hope you enjoy it.
---
The zombie herd was dwindling to a few stragglers, and if we were going to pick up a broadcast, it would be then, and I was right. Just as the last of the zombies disappeared down the road, Daniel stumbled onto a station. The voice coming from the radio was female and though static broke most of her words, we got that she was broadcasting from Missouri and that she had news about the herds, about why they were going south, but so much of the broadcast was distorted that it was hard to make out. I thought I heard something about a bomb and war, but thought surely I was wrong. Daniel heard the same things I did, but also assumed that he hadn’t heard her correctly.
Half an hour later, we were heading back home. I fiddled with the radio, trying to pick up other broadcasts while we both ruminated on what we might have heard. When we got back to camp, what information we did pick up or thought we picked up from the woman was the focus of our discussion, which Daniel and I both preferred. We wanted our engagement to be ours for as long as possible. Eventually, someone would see the ring, would ask questions, but until then we enjoyed our secret.
No one had had an actual wedding in so long I couldn’t remember the last couple to get married. Most people simply moved in with one another, announced that they were married, and we accepted it. Daniel didn’t want this though, and I was glad he told me so the following afternoon after we had woken and made love again.
“I want us to have a wedding. I know it is ridiculous, but I want one. I want to see you dressed in a pretty dress. To see you walk down an isle toward me. I want to exchange vows that will link us together for eternity. I want to say ‘I do’ and kiss you in front of the entire camp,” he said softly, while stroking my back.
All of it sounded perfect, but a part of me was reluctant. I worried that the others might resent us for it. Besides, we didn’t have a priest, preacher, justice of the peace, or anyone else authorized to preform weddings. At least, not that I was aware. I relented, but asked him if we could wait awhile before doing it. I wanted to wait to see what was going on with the zombies. Wanted to go to Missouri and find the woman on the radio to see what she knew. What I didn’t tell him was that I wanted him to be sure he wanted to do this, and to be sure he loved me. What he was feeling for me might be a temporary thing. We hadn’t been together for very long, so he might change his mind once he got to know me. I didn’t voice any of that last bit, of course. He would have argued with me, denied that he could be settling or only feeling lustful because he had gone so long without.

#SnippetSunday & #8Sunday #Excerpt from #HIM, a #suspense/thriller $.99
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my twenty-sixth Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday and my sixteenth Snippet Sunday post. I’m sorry I haven’t been around for a while. I’ve had a crazy couple of months. I’m hoping that things will calm for a bit. I expect to be around until at least October when things will pick back up a bit with new releases and more events.
Today’s excerpt comes from chapter ten of my suspense/thriller, HIM. I’ll probably continue with HIM for a month or so, then I’ll switch to sharing from one or both of my upcoming releases.
In the following snippet Amy, Shane, and Avery are preparing to leave the island to get far away from her uncle, but there is just one problem…
“Amy. Amy, are you in there? Unlock the back door please. Hurry.”
My brain knew instantly to whom that voice belonged. I began to freak-out all over again at the panicked tone of the voice. As fast as I could, I spun around, ran to the backdoor in the kitchen, and jerked it open. Shane stood there bent over at the waist, hands on his knees, breathing hard. I grabbed him by the shirt and jerked him into the house, asking, “What the hell is going on?”
“It’s Avery. He’s missing,” he said in between gulps of air.
Thank you for stopping by. If you want to read more excerpts from other authors or to join in the fun, stop by both blogs and peruse their sights.

WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY Excerpt from Resistant, a SciFi/Horror Romance

Okay, for those who are following my blog, this post is going to be a repeat from last week, and I’m sorry, but I forgot to sign up for the WIP IT blog, so I’m assuming those wonderful ladies didn’t get to read it. I’ve been so busy and my oversight last week is a testament to that. I want to keep my posts in line with my story so that most people can follow it without much trouble.
This is my twenty-fifth week on this blog hop. I’m hoping that my life will settle down a bit until October. Resistant is back to my editor and long with the synopsis of the novel. No Sweat Graphics is working on the cover. I’m nearly finished with my last read-through of my novella, Saying Goodbye, which I’ll probably start sharing here next month. I have the cover for it already, but not a synopsis. I’m also currently writing two paranormal romances. One is a full length novel and the other is a novella. I’ll try to start sharing from those in a few months. They aren’t scheduled for release until next year.
I’m continuing this week with an excerpt from my current romance WIP, Resistant. Here is what I have for a synopsis so far. What do you guys think?
Before they came, Sahara was an overweight high school teacher living alone in a small Alabama town. She saw her life as nothing more than endless days of teaching children Shakespeare and nights reading paranormal romances. She was happy with her life, as quiet and mundane as it was.

Join Sahara and her people in this fight against creatures set out to devour them and the unknown threat that is controlling them to find out.
Everything is still moving in a timely manner, which means that I’m still looking for Resistant to go on sale in August or September.
Anyway, on to the excerpt. This scene is a continuation from my last post. This one is a bit short because I want to build your anticipation to what is coming. I hope you enjoy it.
---
Our lovemaking from there was slow and sensual, and I was coming in minutes, but he wasn’t which disappointed me greatly. He stopped moving once my orgasm past. I kept my eyes closed, fearing something bad was about to happen. Above me, he shifted slightly, fiddled with his jacket, then said my name.
Reluctantly I looked up at him.
“I love you. I know I have said it before, but I can’t stop telling you. I don’t want you to ever be unsure about it…ever.”
“Daniel, I…” was all I could get out. He raised his hand and between his fingers was a white gold band with four small diamonds set inside, not tiny, minuscule diamonds, but diamonds just big enough to make the ring look dainty, elegant, and perfect.
“I know we don’t have priests or preachers anymore. I know there is no one official who can legally preform the ceremony, but I still want you to marry me. Will you marry me?”
I began to cry, of course.
“Oh, baby, please don’t cry,” he said softly and kissed me gently. When I didn’t stop crying, though, he began to move inside me. Slowly at first, then faster and harder. My tears vanished instantly as my pleasure in what he was doing grew. Before I could come again, he stopped and said, “You didn’t answer me.”
I moaned in disappointment and tried to move under him, wanting the friction, needing to come one more time.
“Answer me, and I’ll give you what you want.”
I nodded my head.
He eased out to the point that the only thing that was in me was his head. “What was that?”
“Yes,” I began to say as he inched his way back inside me. I arched up so that he could go deeper, but his movements were more of a tease and not enough to send me over the edge.
“Say it again,” he said and pulled from me again.
“Yes,” I said, and he slammed into me. Over and over again he did this and each time he filled me I said yes until I was screaming out my second orgasm and he his first. As he shot into me, he smiled down at me in satisfaction. Minutes later, his penis went soft inside me, but he didn’t pull out. Instead, he leaned on one arm, held up the hand with the ring in it, and asked me to hold up my hand so he could put the ring on it.
I knew we needed to sit up, needed to get back on watch, but I wanted to stay that way forever, our bodies linked, our sweat mingling, him looking at me as if I were his world. As if sensing what I was feeling, he leaned down and kissed me passionately.
“I love you,” he said and pulled from me. With a handkerchief he pulled from his pocket, he cleaned me the best he could. Briefly, I wondered if the handkerchief had snot or something equally gross on it, but figured if it had, he wouldn’t be using it, then I wondered what a man his age was doing carrying around a handkerchief. The only people I knew that carried them were old men and men in suits, and I thought the ones in the suits were for show.
Sitting up, I looked out the window at the world around us and was shocked to see a herd of zombies ambling by not five feet from us. We had to have been making noise, rocking the truck, but they didn’t seem to have noticed us. Whatever had them entranced had a tight hold on them.
“That is so creepy,” I said, pulling on my panties and pants.
“What, seeing dead people move so roboticly or us having sex while they pass us by?”
“Both I guess. Not that the sex wasn’t good or that I regret your question.” I looked down lovingly at my ring.
He chuckled and buckled his pants, then turned his attention to the radio.

This is my twenty-fifth week on this blog hop. Just a little heads up. I might not be around much until mid-July. I have a number of events, graduations, baby showers, etc. taking up a lot of me time, on top of working a few projects. I sent Resistant back to my editor yesterday, I’m working through what I hope is my last read-through of Saying Goodbye, I am back to writing OUTCAST, and I’m tentatively working on a new paranormal romance series. My brain seems to be on overdrive this month.
I’m continuing this week with an excerpt from my current romance WIP, Resistant. Resistant is a romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. I going to continue to share from this novel until August, then I’m going to shift gears for a while. I’m not sure what I’m going to switch to as of yet.
Everything is still moving in a timely manner, which means that I’m still looking for Resistant to go on sale in August or September.
Anyway, on to the excerpt. This scene is a continuation from my last post. This one is a bit short because I want to build your anticipation to what is coming. I hope you enjoy it. J

Goin’ Postal & The Creek
Rhoda D'Ettore began her writing career by publishing humorous tales about working at the United States Postal Service. Fifteen years of dealing with bombs, anthrax, and human body parts in the mail made for an interesting read. Her co-workers laughed so hard at the nostalgia, they encouraged her to publish the writings. Since then, D'Ettore has fascinated readers with plot twists mixed with sarcastic humor.
D’Ettore knew postal workers would buy her story, yet she also wanted to show them she could write interesting, serious work with shocking twists. In Goin’ Postal & The Creek, the reader gets two very different stories in one book. The first containing the hysterical tales of postal worker life. The second story is a historical fiction that spans 200 years with a slightly supernatural twist. Topics include war, love, romance, death, Prohibition, the Great Depression, and how families survive such events.
Newborn Nazi
Newborn Nazi tackles the issues of right and wrong as well as self sacrifice when fourteen-year-old Edmund is forced into the Hitler Youth in 1935. His older siblings vow to destroy Nazi Germany, and the family gets swept up in espionage and the Underground Movement. When Edmund becomes an adult and joins the feared SS, his sister's secret endeavors to save Jews in her home endangers lives---including her own. This suspense thriller is sure to keep you guessing.
Newborn Nazi is based on Rhoda D’Ettore true family history. There was an Edmund who was forced into the Hitler Youth, and his sister did help Jews escape. D’Ettore found the story so riveting, she took the plot of the story and added murder and espionage to create this intense thriller.
Tower of Tears: The McClusky Series 1
In Tower of Tears: The McClusky Series, we find Jane traveling to America from Ireland with her three-year-old son. Expecting to find a better way of life, Jane finds nothing but intimidation, betrayal, violence, and heartache. This family saga includes blackmail, murder, mystery, and a touch of romance.
While writing Tower of Tears, D’Ettore gave her mother one chapter at a time for feedback. D’Ettore was undecided who the murderer in the book would eventually be, so she wrote the story with five characters hating and threatening the murder victim. Halfway through the book, D’Ettore’s mother shouted, “I know who killed him…. it was ####”. D’Ettore then finished the book with a different character as the murderer. When her mother read the final draft of the book, she replied, “That’s not who the murder is. I told you who is was.” D’Ettore then said, “I wrote the book, so I know who the murderer should be. Thanks.”

This is my twenty-fourth week on this blog hop. Just a little heads up. I might not be around much until mid-July. I have a number of events, graduations, baby showers, etc. taking up a lot of me time, on top of getting my latest edit of Resistant ready to go back to my editor, starting my edits for Saying Goodbye, getting back to writing OUTCAST, and thinking about a new paranormal romance series.

One night we found ourselves a good three hours north of camp, sitting in a truck waiting, watching, for the zombie herds to pass. We were scanning the radio stations, trying to pick up a signal. The assignment was routine. Weeks had gone by with different groups going out to random areas trying to make sense of what the voices on the radio were saying.
A half an hour before a herd was to pass through, Daniel pulled me over to him. For long moments, we kissed, held hands, and just listened to static and intermittent voices and sounds. Gradually, he slid his hand up under my shirt and around my waist. He unsnapped my pants, slipped his hand under my panties, and began to finger me. The angle wasn’t right to give me the pleasure I needed to come, but it still felt great. I sighed with contentment, loving the feel of his gentle strokes.
After a while, though, I grew restless. I shifted so that I could reach his penis over his jeans. I was a little shocked that he was hard. Knowing that simply touching me without being touched himself turned him on, made me love him so much more. I gingerly ran my hand up and down the hard length of him. He groaned, and I squeezed him.
My shifting gave him a better angle to touch me, so I opened my legs as wide as my jeans would let me to give him a better angle to explore me. As my need grew though, I grew impatient. I had to have him inside me. Without dislodging his hand, I shifted myself again so that I could reach his belt. I unbuckled it, then unbuttoned and unzipped his pants. He lifted slightly so that I could push and tug his pants down to his knees. This way I could touch his scorching flesh. He pulled my face toward him and kissed me.
As the kiss heated, and while trying to keep one hand on his cock, I pushed my pants down, then kicked off my shoes, so that I could disrobe from the waist down. Then I moved down to take him in my mouth. This action removed his hand from me, but I didn’t care at the moment. The way he looked down at me as I sucked teasingly on him, made me feel as if his hand was still down there circling me.
When he moaned my named, I released him, and moved to straddle his lap. I didn’t let him enter me, just slid my clit up and down on his erection as I kissed him. He allowed this for only a minute or so before taking control of the situation. He grabbed me by the waist with one hand while grabbing his cock with the other. He lifted me, then placed himself at my opening. I regained control and gradually took him into my body.
For a second I felt guilty for not paying attention to the radio or our surroundings, but that night wasn’t going to be any different from the others. Besides, what we were really waiting on was the radio broadcast.
I slid onto him with a sigh and nearly came at the feel of him filling me.
“God, woman, you feel so fucking good,” he whispered.
I leaned over and kissed him as I slowly rode him. “I love you. I love the way you love me. God, Daniel, I don’t ever want this feeling to stop.”
At my words, he pulled me tight, turned, and lay me down on the seat.

#WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY Excerpt from Resistant a SciFi/Horror Romance

I have a number of events, graduations, baby showers, etc. taking up a lot of me time, on top of getting my latest edit of Resistant ready to go back to my editor. We changed a large chunk of the last hundred pages, so I am definitely going to have to send it back to editing. This ending is much better than the last. I’m told that I should have a cover for this novel next month, so I guess I should get to writing a blurb.
I’m continuing this week with an excerpt from my current romance WIP, Resistant. Resistant is a romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. Everything is still moving in a timely manner, which means that I’m still looking for the novel to go on sale in August or September.
Anyway, on to the excerpt. This scene is a continuation from my last post. This one is a bit short and mostly just filler to us from point A to point B, but I promise next weeks will be longer and much more satisfying. I hope you enjoy it. J

Because the day after our first time having sex was a holiday, we had the perfect excuse to stay in bed pleasuring each other some more. By the time we exited our sleeping area the following afternoon for supper and celebration, the entire camp was abuzz about us. Apparently, several people had approached our sleeping area at various times throughout the day to ask a question or request help with something, but every time they did, they heard us making love and opted out of disturbing us. I was, of course, highly embarrassed, but Daniel wasn’t fazed. He seemed pleased that everyone knew he had finally taken me.
To him, life was the same except that now everyone knew for certain I was his, and he had no problems showing his affection in public. He was always touching me, holding my hand, hugging me to him, lightly kissing my head, my temple, my lips. When he was sure no one was looking, he would cop a feel or press his erection into my ass. Some women might have found this annoying or his actions as being overly possessive, but I loved knowing how much and how often he wanted me.
We had wanted each other for so long that we had too much pent up sexual tension. We had so much, in fact, that we couldn’t help but take advantage of every moment alone or every bit of down time we could get in the days and weeks that followed. I stayed home more often, opting for patrol duty inside the store so that we would be able to have similar shift schedules more often and he opted to run more missions with me. We took advantage of empty homes, department stores, gas stations—you name it we had sex in, on, under it. I never thought I could come that many times in one day, and be so turned on so often. The novelty of it would wear off soon, I knew, but I enjoyed every moment of it. We were like teenagers doing it for the first time.
There were times when people accused us of letting our relationship get in the way of our job, mostly this was by people who were jealous of us. Some complained that we had stayed gone too long on a run. I’m not saying they were wrong but things weren’t that out of hand. We got home before nightfall most nights with everything we could reasonably get. We didn’t ask for time off, didn’t show up to our jobs late, maybe a little tired, but not late. Those who knew and loved us told us not to worry about anything when I brought it up to them.
During all of that, I didn’t think I could be happier. I was wrong.
