This is my twenty-first week on this blog hop. Just a little heads up. I might not be around much until July. I have a number of events, graduations, baby showers, etc. taking up a lot of me time, on top of getting my latest edit of Resistant ready to go back to my editor, we changed a large chunk of the last hundred pages, so I am definitely going to have to go back to editing.
I’m continuing this week with an excerpt from my current romance WIP, Resistant. Resistant is a romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. I am roughly 250 pages into my latest read-through of the novel with my editor’s notes in mind. The novel is roughly 350 pages. Everything was moving smoothly until I got to where the largest changes started. I trudging my way through them. I’m still on track to get the novel back to her by the end of the month or the beginning of the next. If everything movies as quickly as I hope over the next few months, I’m looking for the novel to go on sale in August or September. I don’t have a cover yet, which I’m okay with because of the changes. I think I’m going to wait until late June or July to get with the photographer to finalize everything.
Anyway, on to the excerpt. This scene is a continuation from last week’s. I hope you enjoy it. J

I don’t know exactly how long I slept, but I woke a few hours later with a desperate need to urinate. To my disappointment, I didn’t wake with Daniel’s arms around me. He had turned so that his back was to me and was sleeping soundly. I understood that this position was probably more comfortable to him, but I missed his arms around me.
As quietly as I could, I got out of bed, got dressed, and grabbed my bag of toiletries. He didn’t move. I stepped out of our sleeping area. Aaron, one of the new guards from Dimitri’s group, was heading toward me. Everything was quiet and few people were out and about, but I knew there was still a rule against going to the bathrooms by oneself.
“Hey, Sahara, you need something?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’ve got to go to the bathroom and Daniel is asleep. Is anyone about than can stand guard for me?”
“I think Divya is still up. Hold on while I call her.” After a few seconds, he nodded. “She’ll be here in a minute.”
“I can meet her at the bathrooms.”
“That isn’t a good idea.”
“Why not?”
“Daniel would have my ass. Whereas we the rest of the men that came in with Marcus seem to be trustworthy, or at the least have decided they don’t want any trouble, we aren’t taking any chances and not just with those men. Anybody, male or female, could be capable of anything. We trust each other but this is the apocalypse and anything can happen.”
“With that logic, I shouldn’t be out here with you.”
“No, you shouldn’t be.”
I jerked back at his words. He laughed.
“I didn’t mean it like that. I’m not going to do anything. I’m not that kind of person. I have all that I need in someone who will remain nameless for the time being. I’m just saying, don’t make this a habit. Though with Daniel so close, a person would be a fool to even look at you let alone touch you inappropriately.”
I looked toward our sleeping area and smiled, thinking about Daniel naked under the covers. Aaron cleared his throat to get my attention. My face flamed, and I didn’t want to turn back to him, but I made myself.
“Uh huh,” he said, smiling. “So the two of you finally, uh, um…”
“Shut up. And what do you mean finally. Most people have assumed we’ve been together since the day we met.”
“Yeah, I know, but I knew better. When I asked, Daniel was honest about it.”
“What do you mean you asked? Why did you ask?”
His faced flushed a deep crimson, but this didn’t stop him from answering. “I was sure he wasn’t gay. Yet, one night about a month or so ago, I just asked. I asked him if the two of you were seeing each other, and when he said things were complicated. I asked if that meant he wanted something with you, and he said yes, but he wasn’t sure how you felt. That told me all I need to know about your relationship and about his sexual orientation.”
I was floored. I hadn’t known, hadn’t even assumed Aaron was gay. That just goes to show that you can never really know someone.
“I know others had asked him before,” he continued. “Most people didn’t believe him. I could tell he was telling me the truth. I knew after you were kidnapped that you two would finally come together. I saw the look on his face when he realized you were gone. He had finally made the decision.” He didn’t go on because right then Divya walked up looking way passed exhausted.
“About time,” I teased. “My bladder is about to explode.”
“Sorry,” she said, drawing out the word tiredly, then laughed. “I’m just getting off sentry duty. I’m resisting the urge to fall asleep right here.”
“Well, I’m perfectly capable of urinating by myself. It isn’t my fault we have this rule.” I regretted the words as soon as they were out of my mouth. I was trying to make light of everyone blaming me for the entire incident, but Divya’s unamused look said that my comment was not funny. “Seriously, though, we can call someone else if you prefer to go on to bed,” I said, trying to smooth things over.
“Nah, I’ve got go myself, and I want to brush my teeth before going to bed, so you can watch out for me as well.”
“Good, let’s go. I really gotta go.” I bounced up and down, dramatically doing the pee-pee dance. She laughed and shook her head. We waved to a smirking Aaron and headed to the restrooms.
We talked as we walked. She didn’t ask about Daniel or our relationship. A part of me really wanted her to. I wanted to have that girl talk with a friend. Wanted to tell someone about how happy I was. About how good the sex was. To tell them that Daniel said he loved me, but the days of girl-talk were long gone. Divya was a good friend, but we’d never shared our emotions or stories of our love lives, and sadly, I feared our lives would never settle down long enough for us to ever get to that point.
No, we talked about mundane things like training sessions, scouting missions, zombies, and other nonessentials. She updated me on people’s opinion of me. Although, Divya believed that most of the initial anger was blowing over. They wouldn’t trust anyone I tried to bring into camp for a while, but since Desmond and the others were slowly acclimating that fear would wear off as well.
She let me go into the bathroom and pee first when we got to the restrooms. After doing my business, I brushed my teeth. I had plans for when I got back to our sleeping quarters, and I didn’t want to have morning breath when I implemented them.

This is my twentieth week on this blog hop. I’m sorry about last week. I got a dizzy spell out of nowhere last Tuesday that kept in bed for two days, then would just pop up at random for the rest of the week. I think I only managed to read a handful of posts last week. I’ll try to do better this week.
I’m continuing this week with an excerpt from my current romance WIP, Resistant. Resistant is a romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. I am roughly 150 pages into my latest read-through of the novels with my editor’s notes in mind. The novel is roughly 400 pages. So far, everything is moving smoothly, but I haven’t gotten to the stuff she wanted me to change it, but I’m creeping up on the first bit. I’m still on track to get the novel back to her by the end of the month or the beginning of the next despite being unable to do much last week. If everything movies as quickly as I hope over the next few months, I’m looking for the novel to go on sale in August or September. I don’t have a cover yet, which I’m okay with because of the changes. I think I’m going to wait until late June or July to get with him and finalize everything.
Anyway, on to the excerpt. This scene is a continuation from last week’s scene and ends the chapter. I hope you enjoy it. J

We lay there, foreheads touching, breathing hard, for a long time. He ran his hands up and down my back, over my ass. Most likely, he meant for the action to be soothing, but mostly what it ended up doing was exciting me. I leaned forward when I had had enough teasing and kissed him and nibbled his lower lip. His penis pulsed. I flexed my inner muscles and his hips jerked, slamming him deep into me. I flexed the muscles again and he jerked again. This time he was fully erect and I was more than a little wet. He slammed into me harder and it was all I could do not to cry out.
Loving the way he reacted to me, I flexed again. He gripped my hips, turned onto his back, placing me on top of him, and automatically, I began to ride him hard. I didn’t know for sure if I would come again. Normally I’m a one maybe two orgasm kind of girl, but it had been so long and I wanted him so much, that I hoped that the building pleasure would lead to another explosion of pleasure.
To help ensure that orgasm would happen, Daniel slid a hand between us to finger my clit and leaned up to take one of my nipples in his mouth. It took me longer than the first two, but I didn’t care. I loved feeling him inside me. I loved the pleased expressions that swept across his face as I moved. When I came, though, he took over. He pulled me down to him and pushed into me from underneath me over and over again, as I cried my pleasure into his neck. He didn’t last much longer than I did.
Eventually, he slid out of me, and I moved to lie beside him, my head on his chest and my arm draped over him. We dozed for a while. I ignored the wetness between my legs that was proof of what we had just done. It occurred to me then that we hadn’t used protection. I’m on the pill. The doctor who traveled with Michael and his men had given me a two-year supply the last time I had seen him, so I wouldn’t run out for a while and I had ferreted a few packs I had found in the pharmacies we had hit up for medicines and such things when we had them on the list, mixing brands might not be great and they would eventually expire, but I felt sure we were safe from pregnancy for the time being. Daniel hadn’t asked, but since he had seen me take them on more than one occasion, he hadn’t had to know.
Once or twice, I had started to explain why I took them, but to anyone who really sat and thought about it the answer was obvious. No, I haven’t been sexually active and hadn’t intended to be, but in case the opportunity ever arrived, I wanted to be prepared. This is not the type of world one wants to bring a baby into. Also, in this world rape was a real issue. We had run into more than one rape victim, both male and female. In case something like what almost happened to me, I wanted to be safe from that as well. It wouldn’t have protected me from disease, but pregnancy, most definitely.
Daniel also hadn’t asked me if I was clean either, but that conversation had also been unneeded. We were partners. To begin training with them, Michael and made me go through every test at their disposal. Daniel and been there for a lot of it, and to make me feel better he had offered up his own medical information. I had balked at first, but since he and I were working so closely together, it made sense that we knew each other’s medical history, the medications we had to take, our allergies, any other medical issues that may or may not come up in the field.
At some point in my reverie, I had begun to doze. I woke quickly, though, to the feel of something cool on my upper thigh, I opened my eyes and realized that I had rolled off Daniel, and was on my back. When I started to stir, he said, “Go back to sleep. I’m just cleaning you off so that you will sleep a little more comfortably.”
“Thank you,” I said and did as he said.

I received my first round of edits for Resistant last weekend. Oh my at the typos. Sorry guys. I hope what I post from here on out will be a little better. I’m nearly through reviewing all the typos and such and will start the few large changes tomorrow. There were a couple of large scenes that my editor didn’t feel went well with the story or that needed further explanation, and once she explained why, I completely agreed. I don’t think any of it has anything to with what I’ve shared so far. I plan to have the novel back to her by the end of the month or the beginning of next month. If everything movies as quickly as I hope over the next few months, I’m looking for the novel to go on sale in August or September. My hands quickly found the waist of his sweatpants and underwear and began pushing them down his body. He helped when I could only get them so far by shoving them by kicking them off. At no point did he stop kissing me. When he was free from his clothes, I pulled him against me, wanting to feel his body pressed to mine.
His penis pressed into my lower stomach, and absolutely not where I wanted it to press. I lifted my leg up and wrapped it around him. This action shifted our bodies so that his penis rubbed between my legs; still not where I wanted it, but at least where it was it would give me pleasure. We moved against each other, building our need until I begged him to take me.
Unfortunately, he didn’t immediately comply with my request. He lifted his head, wrapped one hand around the back of my neck, and tilted my face so that I was looking up into his eyes. His other hand slipped down between us, rubbed my clit for moment before taking himself in his hand and moving his head to my opening. I held my breath. Once he had positioned himself where he could slide easily into me when he was ready, he brought his hand up and cupped my face.
In a soft, low voice he said, “I love you,” and moved his hips.
Uncontrollably, my head fell back as far as it could, breaking our eye contact. I closed my eyes and let out the breath I was holding in a satisfied sigh as he filled me. The pleasure was so intense, so wonderful, I couldn’t do anything but lie there relishing in the feel of him inside me, stretching me, filling me, and corny enough completing me. He undoubtedly felt the same because he didn’t move in me. He just said my name and sought my lips.
We kissed for a long time that way, but eventually our desire became too much and we had to move. Our lovemaking was slow, gentle, but that didn’t stop me from quickly exploding. Feeling myself tighten around him as I came made my orgasm stronger. I wanted to scream, to beg for more, but we were more or less in the open, and whereas most people assumed we were already having sex, I didn’t want them to hear us doing it.
I took great satisfaction in the fact that he came seconds after I did. I loved knowing that the feel of my orgasm pushed him so far over the edge that he couldn’t hold his. I also loved that he didn’t immediately pull away when he was done. He stayed inside of me, even though he was no longer fully erect, though he maneuvered us so that we were on our sides.
“I love you,” I whispered.
My words caused him to pull me tighter to him.

I was just crawling under the covers of the king-sized bed when he came out wearing only the sweats. His chest was completely bare, showing off a decently muscular body with a light dusting of dark brown hair on his chest. He was drying his hair with a towel, and it took everything I had to pull my gaze from him. I was surprised to feel a wave of lust run through me.
Here I was hiding from a man who was threatening to rape me in the most vicious ways possible, and I was actually lusting for someone. Only a sick individual could think about sex at a time like this, I told myself. These thoughts made me wonder for the first time if there was something wrong with me. Was that why that bastard was able to do all those things to me? Why I let him do those things?

This is my eighteenth week on this blog hop. I’m continuing this week with an excerpt from my current romance WIP, Resistant. Resistant is a romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. I finally heard back from editor. I should be getting the novel back from her this week or next. I don’t have a cover yet. I did speak with the photographer I’m hoping to use, and he has a few models and locations in mind, and may have a quote for me soon. Anyway, on to the excerpt. This scene is a continuation from last week’s scene. I hope you enjoy it. J

As I began to come down, he lifted his thumb from my clit but left his fingers moving slowly inside me, and moved over to lie beside me. I felt the warmth of his body spread down my side, felt him prop his head up on his elbow and look down at me, but I couldn’t open my eyes. The feel of his fingers still inside me had me feeling vulnerable, exposed, and even more turned on than I was before the orgasm.
“Sahara,” he leaned down and whispered into my ear.
“Yeah?” I asked, unable to steady my breathing.
“Can I make love to you?”
“Please.” I barely breathed the words.
In response, he kissed, licked then nibbled on my ear and as he did so, he slid his fingers out of me. I groaned in displeasure. He chuckled against my neck, then bit into me lightly. The hand that had been between my legs slowly moved up my stomach, under my shirt and to one of my breasts. Inch by inch he kissed up my neck, over my chin to my check.
“Look at me,” he said softly.
I turned my face toward him and opened my eyes. He was smiling down at me. The expression on his face told me how happy he was at that moment. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing in his eyes. Against my control, a tear slid down my cheek.
“Are you okay?” he asked, wiping it way. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No, but can I ask one thing?” His fingers gently rolling my nipple were distracting, but I had to know.
“Anything,” he said and lightly kissed me. The kiss took my breath away.
When I was under control again, I asked, “Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why this? Why now?”
“I’m in love with you. I have been for a long time. I’ve wanted to do this almost from the first time we meet. As to why now, I got tired of waiting for the right time to come along. We’ve been so busy for so long. Been in so much danger. I didn’t want to love you, didn’t want you to love me just for one of us to lose the other. I wanted to wait until we were safe, but then you were kidnapped, nearly raped, nearly killed. I made the decision then that when I felt you were ready, I would make you mine. Also, before your kidnapping, I wasn’t sure if you felt the same way I did, but the way you kissed me that day told me that we could have something, that you might care for me, might even…”
“Love you? I do. With my whole heart, I do. I just didn’t think you loved me, not in this way, I mean.”
He kissed me again then. Harder. Longer. I wrapped my arms around him as we kissed and began pulling at his shirt. It took him a minute to figure out what it was I was doing, but when he did, he released me just long enough to pull first his shirt then mine off. He didn’t even bother looking down at my naked body once my shirt was off, he just went right back to kissing me.

Today’s excerpt comes from chapter seven of my suspense/thriller, HIM.
The next step in the evolution of our “relationship” occurred the fall of nineteen ninety-one. He just showed up at the house one Friday around noon sans his kids. Of course, I was in school and didn’t know anything about his arrival. If I hadn’t had a big test the following week in Biology, I would have had plans for the weekend and wouldn’t have gone straight home after school. As it was, I was barely skating by with a C, and Mom was threatening to ground me for a month if I didn’t bring the grade up, so I had no means of escape. She wouldn’t even allow me to go to my grandparents for the weekend—that was how worried she was that I was going to fail the class—and she made this call before he even showed up.
Mom knew I had planned to cram for the test all weekend, I swore to her I would, which meant when I saw his car in the driveway, I knew I had no reasonable excuse to leave the house. My goal quickly became to hide out in my room all weekend and pray he left me alone. I snuck in the house as quietly as I could and eased up to my bedroom.

What I've Read this Week 5-1-15

I started out unsure if I would like this novel, but it grew on me. I wasn't fond of the idea that the male lead was still like the skinny girl first and the heavy set one once he got to know her. I not like insta-love, but I would rather he had found her attractive from the beginning. I also wasn't a fan of the forced drama between the female lead and her ex. The author seemed to throw that end for extra drama that wasn't needed. Other than that, I story and the couple grew on me.

I loved the references, especially the Stephen King ones. The Herald Lauder comparison gave me a perfect vision of who Oscar was. I love how I related to all the geek/nerd stuff. I found the supernatural element creepy and gave the piece an edge. Whereas it has been years since I have had a Spanish glass and was a tiny bit lost trying to translate certain lines and phrases the narrator throws in, I understood enough that they didn't halt my reading. The timeline threw me a bit a first, but eventually I sorted things out in my head well enough to follow the story.
I very much enjoyed this novel.

Finally, I felt his thumbs lightly breeze over the flesh near my opening and my folds. I was wet, so very wet, and he could feel it. He even carried that wetness with him as he passed over my clit and into the hair at the top of my mound. I stopped breathing for a second and so did he. He said my name again, and this time I knew what he was asking, so I said please.
He pulled his hands out from under my shorts, then reached up, grabbed the waistband, and pulled them down. I brought my legs up so that he could remove them one leg at a time. I let my legs fall back open the way they were, trying not to feel embarrassed at how open I was to him. I didn’t open my eyes, but I could feel him looking down at me.
I was shadowed from prying eyes since he had fashioned a canopy over the top of our sleeping area right after I was rescued. This had helped keep the few lights left burning each night in the rest of building from keeping me awake. Now it helped keep him from being able to truly see me. Part of me was thankful for that. I didn’t want him seeing my flaws at that moment.
Once he had me bare from the waist down he went back to messaging my legs, though his movements were slower, easier, lazier. Every so often, he would shift me further up the mattress. I wasn’t sure what he was doing, but I didn’t question things. I would let him do this how he wanted, even though ever part of my body was screaming for him to fuck me already.
For the longest time, he only grazed me. I didn’t open my eyes to see him doing this, but I felt his eyes all over me. Lightly running his hands through my hairs over my folds, my opening, he touched me…felt me. As he did this, he moved my wetness around causing me to moan quietly into my pillow. When he finally ran his finger down the center of me, lightly grazing my swollen clit, I pulled the pillow over my mouth and cried out. I let out another pleasure-filled cry when his finger slid between my folds. to slide over my clit. I gasped and the top half of me bowed upward in shock. I nearly exploded then. I was so close, but I didn’t want things to end so soon.
Daniel apparently felt the same way. He stopped moving his finger and waited for me to settle, then he slid his finger down to my opening, but didn’t enter me. I groaned. He groaned.
With that same finger, he slid back up me, opening me, letting his thumb move over me. When he got to my clit, he rolled it under his thumb. I gasped again and thrust myself into his hand. He whispered my name. I said his.
While one of his thumbs massaged me, he slid an index finger down and inside of me. I stifled a cry. Slowly he moved the finger in and out. I rocked my hips with him, silently begging for more. As if he heard my words, his middle finger joined his index. In seconds, my body latched onto those two fingers and exploded. How I kept from screaming, I don’t know. The sensations that were too intense, too long overdue kept washing over me until I couldn’t take it anymore. He continued to move slowly inside and around me, drawing my orgasm out as long as he could.
