Good Monday morning folks. Welcome back to the Meet My Character Monday Blog Hop. Today I want to introduce you to another character from my upcoming suspense/thriller HIM. Shane is one of the main characters in HIM. He is eighteen years old and is Amy’s boyfriend.
Shane meets Amy shortly after her sixteenth birthday when he starts working for her grandfather at his resort on Little Paw Island. Throughout the novel, Amy has a hard time getting people to believe her about her molester; that is until Shane. Shortly after meeting her, Shane tells Amy that he doesn’t trust her uncle. When she asks why, he says, “he is one of those snake oil salesman that promises you he has the cure to all your ailments, but what he really has is a fast tongue and vial of water with a bit of camphor oil added to it.”
In an effort to defend Amy, Shane causes Amy’s molester a bit of discomfort when he stays on the island. Shane insures that HE suffers “from occasional golf cart problems, air conditioning problems, and other randomly innocent problems during his stays on the island.”
Shane also helps hide Amy from HIM during their last stay on the island, suffers greatly at the hands of HIM, and is nearly raped himself, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t fight back. Check out this scene from when HE tries to force himself on Shane.
He only got a mere inch or two of himself in Shane’s mouth before letting out a loud harsh cry. In one quick movement, he pulled himself from Shane’s mouth and with one hand still holding the back of the boy’s head he punched Shane hard enough to draw a trickle of blood from a small cut right above his left eye. I screamed again, and made to move off the table.
“Son of a bitch bit me,” he said and punched Shane again.
At this I froze, understanding dawning on me, and I began to laugh.
He punched Shane one more time, knocking him unconscious, then dropped the boy and came back to me. “You think that was funny, do you?”
To find out more about what happens to Amy and Shane, check out the novel’s Facebook page or read the first chapter on Goodreads. This novel has a tentative release date of January 2015.
