WIP UPDATE 12-27-14
I needed a break from cleaning house, washing all the clothes and blankets we got, and doing a mile high stack of dishes, so I decided to read through another chapter of Resistant, my romance set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. This chapter was another steamy one, but alas, the excerpt from it that I'm sharing isn't. I know, I know, you really want the good stuff, but I'm trying to keep this page and PG13 as possible. Here is your teaser for the day:

What I've Read this Week - 12-26-14
I started Influential Magic on Saturday, 12-20-14 and finished it Sunday, 12-21-14. I loved Links and Tal, but Willow is annoying and weak, and as the main character she shouldn't be either. If she had been more likable, I would have given this novel four stars. The plot was interesting, and all of the other characters are cool, definitely something I will recommend to others, just wish Willow was stronger. Maybe she is in the next book.
I started Irresistible Magic Monday, 12-22-14 and finished it Tuesday, 12-23-14. Willow is still annoying, but now I'm annoyed with both men in her life. She really needs to grow a pair, learn to fight, and take charge of her life. Other than that, I'm still enjoying the series though.
I started Ender's Game Tuesday, 12-23-14 and finished it Wednesday 12-24-14. I loved this novel. I loved all the twists and turns, and the disturbing characters. This is a must read for any young and not so young science fiction fan.
This is book is about a young boy who is manipulated by a government and an army into committing murder on an apocalyptic scale. The ending will definitely leaving contemplating our society and how it overacts to the unknown.
I started reading The Dark Unwinding. This is a very interesting novel that doesn't go at all the way you think it might. I haven't finished the novel yet, but so far I would definitely say this is a must read.
WIP UPDATE 12-24-14
While taking a bit of a break from Christmas (I've been going to for two days), I decided to read through another chapter of Resistant. I picked a good chapter to read; this one is steamy. I'm not going to share the rated R stuff, but here is a little something to feed your curiosity:
Before you go, don't forget that today is the last day to get both of my novels at their special holiday price. My supernatural romance, SHIFTER, is only $2.49 and my post-apocalyptic novel, ALONE, is $1.99 until midnight tonight.

WIP UPDATE 12-22-14
12-22-14: Resistant: A romance set during a zombie apocalypse. This novels is still in the developing stage: therefore, I do not have a blurb or cover for it yet.
So I decided that I couldn't go a full day without doing something with one of my current WIPs, despite swearing that I was taking a break until the new year. Not sure how smart it was to edit roughly 20 pages of a zombie novel right before bed. I should have some interesting dreams tonight. Before I say goodnight, I'll leave you with a little excerpt from what I worked on today:
One last thing before you go: Happy Holidays, everyone. I have a special gift for you this Christmas. From now until December 26th all ecopies of my supernatural romance, SHIFTER, and my post-apocalyptic novel, ALONE, will be half off their original price. What I'm Reading - 12-20-14
Started Saturday, 12-13-14. Tech heavy, and a bit above my head, but I'm enjoying it so far.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13542606-kill-decision?ac=1
I started Kill Decision Wednesday, 12-17-14. The novel is tech and military heavy, but interesting.
WIP 12-19-14
I'm still sick, but did manage to get in a little editing today. Here is an excerpt from chapter 6 of Resistant:
I'm feeling better (I had a bug this week), and am back to editing Resistant. Here is a little glimpse at the pages I read through today:
Monday 12-15-14 - Another busy day, but hey, I did manage to get some editing done. I love the holidays, but I don't like how much I have to do. Here is a little peak at what I worked on today:
I sitting under the heater, sipping peppermint tea, and editing. Can you tell that I'm cold. LOL!! I hope everyone is keeping warm. Our weather is all over the place these days. One day I'm freexing, the next I'm burning up. That is Alabama ADD weather for you. Okay, I'll stop complaining. Here is a little peak at what I've read through today:
Thursday, 12-18-14: Another fruitful day of editing. Had to some alterations and make some additions to the two chapters I worked on today, but as usual everything bit of it made the story better. Here is a little sample of what I worked on today:
Friday, 12-19-14: You know the story line is good when you read a great deal more than you planned to do for the day of your own work. I love that I can get so caught up in my own work. Here is a little peak at what I worked on today:
That is it for this week. Check back with me in the new year to get more excerpts from my works in progress.
Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :)
WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY - 12-17-14 - Excerpt from SHIFTER
Welcome back to WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY. If you would like to know more about this blog home, want to read more WIP, or to join the hop, visit: http://wipitupwednesday.blogspot.co.uk/
This is my fifth week on this blog hop. This week I’m going to change things up a little. I know this blog hop is mostly for WIPs, but I’m running a half off sale on my supernatural romance, SHIFTER. I shared a small snippet on an earlier blog hop, and its reception was amazing. Unfortunately, that hop is limited to eight sentences, so I had to stop when things were just getting hot. Today I want to share the entire scene with you guys.
(A little introduction to the story. Shifter is about a shapeshifter named Dimitri who is permanently transformed into a cat by a witch. Abby, a woman coming out of an abusive relationship adopts him and has no idea her new cat is anything other than a cat. In this scene, Dimitri is sleeping at the foot of his bed. Until this point he hasn't been human since the day he was cursed.)
---
“What the hell?” I grunt, forgetting that no one can hear me. The movie had gone on for three whole hours. Some of it was interesting, but most of it I couldn’t watch and toward the end I had fallen asleep. I’m awake now. I jerk up from my place on the floor even though I can’t see because something is covering my eyes. I shake my head lightly and the object slips to the floor. My eyes go wide at the sight of the yellow piece of silk lying before me.
Her panties. How had her panties gotten on my head?
Before I can think too much on it, I hear a soft moan come from the bed. Jerking my head in her direction, I focus all of my attention on her and hear another soft moan.
With the aid of my magic, I am forcing my body to grow into the size of a full-grown Maine Coon in record time. This means that it takes very little effort on my part to raise myself up on my hind legs and lift head over the mattress to see what is going on up there. I can’t help myself. I know what she is doing, and I know that I should leave the room to let her do it in private, but I can’t make myself.
As I watch her hand move under her sheet, I feel my body tremble. I feel the shift coming on. Moments later when her sheet slides to the floor and I get a complete view of her naked body, I actually began to shift.
This shift doesn’t hurt. I don’t writhe in pain. No, this shift comes on as smooth as any as I have had in the past. Merely seconds after I laid eyes on her glistening naked body, I am a man again. I am myself.
Instead of going to my brother, I turn back to the bed. Her head lays flat against the mattress. Her eyes are closed. One hand kneads a breast while the other is buried deep between her legs. As I watch, she bends her legs at the knees and spreads them wide, showing me exactly what she is doing. Giving me a very personal look at the most intimate part of her body. Even in the dark I can see how perfectly smooth, silky, and moist she is.
I grow harder and harder as she plunges not one but two fingers deep inside herself while her thumb massages her clit. She is masterful. The knowledge that she is so skillful at what she is doing saddens me. Her proficiency confirms the fact that she has spent more time pleasing herself and not enough time having someone please her.
The ache in my groin worsens the closer she comes to achieving an orgasm. I can’t take my eyes off her body. Her breasts are large. Her body round and velvet looking. My hands twitch to touch her. I have to ball them into fists, burying my nails deep into my flesh to keep from reaching out and doing just that.
I shouldn’t watch this, I know. I hate the part of me that can’t or won’t look away. She doesn’t deserve this. This is a private act, and I’m violating every moral code I have. If she ever finds out that I have seen her this way, she will never forgive me.
Just as I make up my mind to shift out of the room, her orgasm hits. My eyes lock on the way her body convulses. The sounds of her soft cries and gasps have my body begging to enter her.

Sorry, I’m doing this from the part time job, so I don’t have access to everything I need to share from HIM. Yes, I’m working late. Tis the season and all. J Speaking of which, I’ll try to get to everyone’s post this week (I did so well last week), but Christmas is coming, and I’m swamped. I don’t think I’ll be posting next week either due to the holidays. If I don’t, Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, Happy Honokaa, Happy Kwanzaa, (I think I spelled those last two correctly) etc. J

Meet My Character Monday Blog Hop - 12-15-14 - Meet Allison from HIM
Good Monday morning folks. Welcome back to the Meet My Character Monday Blog Hop. Today I want to introduce you to Allison, a secondary character from my upcoming suspense/thriller HIM.
Allison is Avery and Amy’s mother. She is a CPA, and is one of seven children. Her parents own the island on which most of the novel takes place. Her husband passed early on in their marriage, and she has never remarried. All in all she is a good mother, but she has her faults. The biggest of these faults is that she doesn’t believe that her favorite sibling is molesting her daughter. Time and time again, Amy tries to convince her mother of what has been happening to her, but Allison refuses to believe her.
The following quotes show the two sides of her personality: the loving mother and the woman in denial.
“Boys,” Mom nearly shouted, breaking up the two. “Stop arguing and being disgusting. Don’t you have something better to do?”
“Nope,” the boys said in unison and began to play wrestle. Mom rolled her eyes and looked toward Little Paw with a blissful expression. This trip to Little Paw was the only big vacation we could ever afford to take, and Mom looked forwarded to it every time we came.
-----
“Why were you at the mall?”
“I didn’t want to be here,” I said in a low voice.
“Why not. Didn’t you want to say goodbye to your family? They were a little put out about your absence.”
“I know. And I’m sorry I missed most of them.”
“Well, then why?”
“He said he was going to be looking for me today,” I said in an even lower voice.
“Who said they were going to be looking for you and why?”
I told her who, then I told her what had happened over the last few days. She said nothing for a long time, then she stepped up to me and slapped me hard across the face, leaving my cheek flaming. I just gaped up at her. “Why…Why would you make up such lies?” she demanded.
“I’m not lying. You and I both know I’m not lying. And if you hit me again, I’ll slap you back.”
“I’m not listening to this. Go to your room. You’re grounded form leaving this house and watching television for the next month for lying and talking back.”
“Mother, please listen…”
“Shut your mouth and get out of my sight,” she said with a look of such disgust on her face it broke my heart even more. “And if I hear you’ve said anything about this to anyone else, you won’t come out of that room for a year.”
To find out more about this novel, check out the novel’s Facebook page or read the first two chapters on Goodreads. This novel has a tentative release date of January 2015.

What I'm Reading 12-12-14
I finished Closure Limited 12-6-14. This is a great collection of zombie short stories.
I started listening to this on 12-6-14. Very original, heart breaking, and inspiring.
I haven't read much this week due to the flu, but did I start Storm Front this morning. Loving it. Reminds me bit of Kim Harrison's Hollow's series or ANGEL. I haven't seen the Dresden Files TV show, but I think I might now.

WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY - 12-10-14 - Excerpt from Resistant
Welcome back to WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY. If you would like to know more about this blog home, want to read more WIP, or to join the hop, visit: http://wipitupwednesday.blogspot.co.uk/
This is my fourth week on this blog hop. I’m going to continue this week with another short little scene from Resistant, my current romance in progress that is set in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. This novel is still in the editing stages, so many things, including the title may be different once this novel is ready to go to print.
In the following scene, Sahara and her group have set up camp in an abandoned Walmart. Because not all of their group is immune to the zombie virus, Sahara, Daniel, and another of other people have to patrol the store night and day watching for anyone who might have turned. Sahara is currently sitting in the rafters of the store watching Daniel.
---
I also preferred it[watching from the rafters] because I could watch Daniel from up there without him or anyone else seeing me. Yes, I realize I was like a schoolgirl with a crush around him, but I couldn’t help it. No one was more surprised than me when I realized that even though he babied the crap out of me, which kept me constantly pissed at him, I liked him. Well, I more than liked him. I was growing to love him.
His feeling weren’t mutual, of course. He saw me as an annoying baby sister that he had to protect. I understand that fact, and I’d tried ignoring my feelings for him, tired thinking about some of the other men in our group, but none of them appealed to me the way Daniel did.
Right then, he was headed toward the front of the store on his last sweep before his shift was over. I watched him instead of watching everyone else, and cringed when I saw him pass in front of Maggie’s sleeping area.
Maggie is a nice enough girl…woman, but she was always looking for attention. I wouldn’t necessarily call her a whore, but she did tend to go through partners rather quickly. At that moment, she was using an old, for her, but effective trick. She had left the curtains to her sleeping quarters open just enough for someone passing by to see her putting lotion all over her naked body. My heart sank at the sight of her perfect form exposed the way it was with Daniel quickly approaching her line of sight.
But as with most horrible sights, I couldn’t take my eyes off them. I didn’t want to watch him touch her, to bed her, but I knew it was about to happen, and I couldn’t look away. With ease, he passed her open door and did a double take, then turned around quickly with his back to her. He backed up slowly, his hand out, searching for the fabric she used for a door. Before he can pull her curtains to, she stood up straight in faux surprise, but I saw the “caught cha look” she gave him.
----
For those of you who want to know more about HIM, here is the next hundred words or so of that novel. This section picks up where the last one left off.
“You said he wasn’t going to be here,” I snapped, realizing, not for the first time, that this might be a trap.
“And he isn’t going to be, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make trouble by spreading your lies. Your uncle has had a lot on his plate lately with Mathew robbing that bank last year and going to jail and all. Things haven’t been easy for him since Caroline divorced him. I had really hoped Jacqueline was his second chance. Poor man. So, don’t you go making any more trouble for him.”
I didn’t plan on telling anyone anything. She promised the bastard wouldn’t be here, and as long as he wasn’t, I could get through this week.

Monday 12-1-14 Saying Goodbye - Well, it is official, the first draft of Saying Goodbye, my ghost story is done. As of yesterday, I am beginning another read-through of Resistant, my zombie apocalypse romance to get it ready to go to my editor once we finalize HIM. Here is an excerpt from what I've worked on today:
Michael held out the vial, which the man took, disrobed, and lay down on the table. He took a deep breath. “I’m ready.”
Monday 12-1-14 Resistant: As I mentioned earlier, I've now started another read-through of Resistant. I finished chapter two tonight, and from what I can tell, I have a pretty solid novel that is ready for my editor, but I'll know for sure once I finish this read-through. Here is an excerpt from that novel:

Snippet Sunday and #8sunday - 12-7-14 from SHIFTER (RO/PA)
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my thirteenth Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday and my fifth Snippet Sunday post.
Today’s excerpt comes from chapter thirteen of my supernatural romance, Shifter. In this scene, the police have come to Abby’s house with a search warrant to search her house because Devan thinks he has found evidence that she is holding Dimitri hostage. (I have slightly altered this scene to meet the guidelines of this blog hop.)
“Abby, I’m sorry about all of this,” Devan cuts in, attempting to step closer to me.
“Save it. I can’t believe I fell for your bullshit. Why would you go out of your way to take me out just so that you could check out my house?”
“That’s not why I asked you out. The witness came forward the day we went out. I didn’t know anything about it until the next day.”
“You know what, I don’t care. Get out of my house.”

What I've read this week. 12-5-14
Slow start for me, but soon I was hooked. I love the world Brett creates. His characters aren't stilted, and even though the do things I wish they wouldn't, thinks happen to them that I found unfair, I have to remind myself that the real world isn't buttoned up and beautiful. I love that the demon's have personalities.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves AU/dystopias with lots of battle scenes between humans and demons. :)
I loved this story. Reading it took me back to my childhood. This book has a little bit of everything: fairies, magic, witches, dragons.
The story is about two girls who go on an adventure to find the fairy queen's infant son. Along the way, the girls find themselves camping in the woods, flying through the air on dragonflies, and battling goblins. Do not fear, this novel is very small child friendly.
I highly recommend it children of all ages.
Started Sunday 11-30-14. finished Monday 12-1-14. I enjoyed this story. I thought it should have been a little better thought out, but it was a decent read. If the characters in the novel were the professionals they are supposed to have been, some of the things should have been prevented, but where would the drama be if they had been.
Started Monday 12-1-14. Finished Wednesday 12-3-14. This was a pretty good book. The post-apocalyptic world created here gives one hope for our society in the aftermath of such devastation.
Started Wednesday 12-3-14. This was an all right read, but it was more of a fictitious telling of the history of zombie outbreaks than an actual survival guide.
I finally finished this novel. Loved the story. Hated the slang. It made the story hard to read.
I just started this tonight. I'm really enjoying the vampire/zombie story.
WIP IT UP Wednesday - 12-3-14 - Exceprt from Resistant
I’m back. Sorry that I missed last week, but things were just so hectic. This week my WIP post is from my upcoming romance novel, Resistant, set in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. This excerpt comes from chapter 4, and the very next morning after she and Daniel meet.
---
A loud commanding voice woke me at sunrise a few hours later. A pounding on my bedroom door followed the voice seconds later. “Son-of-a…” I mumbled, jumping at the noise. I rose, looked out my bedroom window, and saw the soft light of the sun slowly breaking through the curtains. “Really.” I plopped back on the pillow, pulled the cover over my head, and started to doze back off. I wasn’t part of their military, and I didn’t want them there. If they insisted on being there, they could take care of themselves.
Seconds later, another pounding came at the door. I threw the blankets off me, rolled out of bed, stomped to the door, and jerked it open. “What?” I demanded.
Daniel stood outside my door, mouth open in a silent remark. I looked down at myself and realized that for the second time in two days, I stood in front this man in almost nothing. This time was worse because now all I wore were a pair of panties and a long shirt.
For a second, I wanted to be embarrassed, but then I decided that by the look on his face and his cautious look up and down the hall for others, my appearance offended him. Good. He deserved to be offended. This was my house. I would wear what I wanted in my own damned bedroom.
“You should probably…” he started to say.
“I should probably what? Get dressed? Why should I. This is my house. If you don’t want to see my fat ass half-naked, you should have picked somewhere else to stay.” I propped my hands on my hips, causing my shift to lift even further.
His eyes widened, then he looked away. Yep, get a good disgusting look at the fat girl’s thighs. Maybe you’ll think twice about banging on my door, I thought and grinned smugly at him

Okay, for those of you who want to know more about HIM, here is the next hundred words or so of HIM.
“Don’t be so dramatic,” my mother replied in a caustic voice, thankfully, oddly enough, interrupting my train of thought. That was just like my mother. She would have her say, no matter how I tried to avoid her retorts. I shouldn’t have said anything, but sometimes things come out without my control.
“I’m not being dramatic, Mother,” I spat in a low voice. We were more than a mile from the mainland, with another mile or so to go before we reached my grandparent’s resort.
“Don’t start this again,” Mom warned me. “You leave your uncle alone.”
Oh, I planned to stay as far away from that man as humanly possible. The problem was that he never left me alone. He seemed determined to find me wherever I hid.
--HIM has a tentative release date of January 2015.

Snippet Sunday and #8sunday - 11-30-14 from SHIFTER (RO/PA)
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my twelfth Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday and my fourth Snippet Sunday post.
Today’s excerpt comes from chapter twelve of my supernatural romance, Shifter. In this scene, Abby and Devan have returned from their date, and Dimitri is listening to the conversation they are having on Abby’s front porch. (I have slightly altered this scene to meet the guidelines of this blog hop.)
“I’m going to invite you in, but you should know before you enter that we won’t be having sex.”
“We’ll see.”
“No, seriously, no sex.”
“I won’t say I’m not disappointed, but if you say no sex, then I won’t do anything more than this.”
I can’t stop myself. When I hear her intake of breath, I pull a Sebastian and begin scratching at the door to distract them. At the noise, I hear a growl escape Devan’s lips and a soft chuckle come from Abby. With a satisfied meow, I step away from the door.
Want to know if their date ends here? Download your copy of Shifter today at Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, or Google Play. To find out more about this novel or me, peruse this cite or visit me on Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, and Twitter.
****From now until December 26th, all ecopies of this novel are half off. Download SHIFTER today for only $2.49.****

WIP Update 11-28-14
Saturday 11-22-14
Shut up. I'm not bawling over the chapter I just finished. (I say, blowing my nose and cleaning my face.) That was the hardest ending I've ever had to write, since the airplane scene in ALONE. Well, I say ending, but I've decided that the novel needs an epilogue, so once that is done, the first draft will be finished. Here is a small snippet of the scene that made me burst into tears. Yeah, I'm giving a little away here, but this novel probably won't be out until next fall, so by then, most of you will have forgotten all about it...right.
“No buts. Tell him you love and tell him goodbye,” Ian ordered.
“Michael, I…”
“I know, baby, I know. I love you, too. I have to go, now."
Oh, I forgot to tell you. I'm thinking of titling this one SAYING GOODBYE. What do those of you who have been following this one think about this title?
Well, that is all of the writing I did this week. I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. I'm off to do shopping with my mom.
Before I forget, between now and December 26th, you can downloader SHIFTER and ALONE for half of their original price.
