Welcome back to Meet My Character Monday blog tour. Today I want to introduce you to Charles Wallace, the feline companion to the main character of my modern day, fictional, free short story, Charles Wallace’s Favorite Toy.
Charles Wallace is one of my favorite characters to write. He is one of only three feline characters I’ve created. Of the three, I think his is the most interesting. Dimitri doesn’t count, as he is technically a shapeshifter. Charles Wallace is named after the little boy in A Wrinkle in Time, one of mine and the main character in this stories’ favorite novels. In every way Charles Wallace is your typical house cat. He is indifferent to his owners and believes the house is his and his owners are merely tenants. He loves his owner’s Snuggy.
Charles Wallace has two ambitions in life at the start of the story: one, to finally get a hold on that damned pull string dangling from the ceiling fan that has been taunting him since birth, and two, to eat the pile of vomit his owner so thoughtfully left for him on the bed. The problem is that every time he goes near the pile of vomit, his female owner shoos him away. If she would just get off the bed, he could get a taste before she swatted at him again, but when he finally got to that annoying pull string, meeting his first goal of the day, the entire thing had come crashing down on her, and now she won’t get up.
You can read Charles Wallace’s Favorite Toy in its entirety free at Goodreads or download it for free from Smashwords or NOOK.
